Applications opened today for 452 participants to join the 2020 Cohort of the Frontline programme, working with vulnerable children and families across England. The two-year leadership development programme, the largest social work training programme in the country, offers graduates and career changers an exciting route into one of Britain’s toughest and most rewarding professions.
On Monday, the 2019 Cohort started their first day in local authorities across London, the North West, the North East, the Midlands, the East and South East, as well as the South West of England for the first time. 393 social work trainees began their two-year placement in child protection teams after attending a five-week summer institute, where leading academics, social workers and experts by experience taught them the foundational knowledge and skills required for great social work.
To date, over 1,000 social workers have been trained through the Frontline programme across 48% of local authorities in England.
