Fellow Trustee

Salary: Voluntary

Location: England

Deadline: 5pm Wednesday 17 August

Role Overview

Eligibility: Anyone who has completed one of Frontline’s programmes

Location: Various across England

Frontline is governed by a skilled, experienced Board of Trustees. The board provides oversight and supports the senior team to set the strategic direction of the charity. They are essential to the strong governance of Frontline and to ensuring the charity’s resources are managed effectively.

The Board meets 5 times a year in person (hours: 15 for meetings, 10 for prep), with additional committee meetings across the year. At these meetings trustees:

  • Support the Frontline team to set strategic goals
  • Approve budgets and organisational priorities
  • Review Frontline’s progress against targets
  • Support and challenge the management of risks

We are recruiting a new Fellow trustee to join the Board. To apply you need to have completed one of our programmes (Frontline, CSW, Firstline or Headline). The Fellow trustee brings their first-hand programme experience and their knowledge of social work practice to the board. This insight is invaluable in informing all Frontline’s work.

The position provides the Fellow trustee the opportunity to have significant impact on how the charity operates and help support us to drive change in social work. The role provides the chance to develop your personal leadership skills, get a clearer understanding of how boards operate and an insight into strategic decision-making. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that you have channelled your commitment to Frontline into creating social change. With the Pathways Programme launching this year, there has never been a more exciting time to join the board!

We especially welcome the applications of people from racialised minorities. We know that without being a diverse and inclusive organisation at all levels, we will not be able to realise our mission, as such we are committed to increasing diversity and improving inclusion at all levels of the charity.

If you are interested in having a confidential conversation about the role, please feel free to contact either Mary Jackson, CEO (mary.jackson@thefrontline.org.uk) or Lisa Hackett, Chief Social Worker (lisa.hackett@thefrontline.org.uk).

Interested in applying?

To apply, send a 250-word (maximum) expression of interest to people@thefrontline.org.uk, outlining why you are interested in the role, and the skills and experience you would bring.

Following expressions of interest, successful applicants will undertake a two-stage interview process (first round: 26 August 2022 and second round will be held weeks commencing 29 August and the 5 September) and would attend their first board meeting on 5 October 2022.

Please email people@thefrontline.org.uk if there are any reasonable adjustments to make this application process more accessible for you. Please note that this role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
