Self Selection Questions

If you join the Frontline programme you will be working with some of the most vulnerable children and families in society. This is an opportunity to really change people’s lives – it’s not a job for everyone, but if you’re up to it then it’s one of the most exciting careers you can choose.

Before starting an application have a look at these scenarios so you can understand the types of situations social workers find themselves in and how they might feel and respond. Social work is one of Britain’s toughest jobs but it’s one where you can change lives for the better. Many of the situations you find yourself in are challenging and can be emotional, but the rewards are immeasurable.

You’re now going to answer 8 questions to help you explore what the job is like, and your suitability for it. These include real-life scenarios from social workers. You should click the answer that best describes your reaction, feelings and thoughts. You can only choose one response. You won’t be scored on these – this is just to give you an idea of what the role entails so you can see if it’s the right fit for you before you go ahead and complete an application.

Whilst completing the questionnaire reflect on your own whether your responses to these situations confirm both your motivation for social work and belief in your suitability for the profession.
