Let’s celebrate World Social Work Day together

16th March 2021

Today is World Social Work Day 2021. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, social workers have continued to support, protect, and advocate for those most vulnerable in our communities. Social workers are highly skilled professionals, but despite social work being an essential service, they do not always get the public recognition that they deserve. At Frontline, we’re celebrating the amazing work that social workers do every day. We’re saying a big THANK YOU to social workers, from our colleagues, fellows, and programme participants, to all social workers up and down the country and across the world.

“Globally the past year has possibly been the toughest yet for social workers. COVID-19 and the murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd highlighted deep racial, economic, health and education divisions in our society. And yet, social workers continued to work alongside those in need of care, support and protection and this has to be celebrated.

Personally I’m proud to be part of the profession. My relationship with social work started early as an adopted child, and I’m proud to be working for Frontline, a charity that champions and celebrates the profession. It is important, now more than ever, that we come together as a community to advocate for and support and protect those in need, often seen as the least, the littlest and the last. Happy world social work day to all of you!”
