Motivational interviewing and child protection social work

Khushali Supeda, one of our amazing fellows and Transition Manager for Family Support in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, hosted our first coffee break of the season with expert Charlie Whittaker on Wednesday 8th September.

Charlie is the curriculum lead for motivational interviewing (MI) on the Frontline programme. She is a qualified social worker with experience of working in residential settings and statutory child protection services. Charlie also recently co-authored a book entitled: Motivational Interviewing for Working With Children and Families – A Practical Guide for Early Intervention and Child Protection.

In the session, Charlie focussed on motivational interviewing and how you can best apply this approach to your work with children and families.
