Race and contemporary policing practices – what are the lessons for social work practice?

Our Social Work Coffee Breaks host and Frontline fellow Jonny Hoyle is joined by our guest expert Lisa Zaranyika for this session covering race and policing practices in the context of social work. Lisa is a principal practice tutor on the Frontline programme and she addresses two main questions in this talk:

  • How have historic ideas about race contributed to the policing of people, and communities racialised as Black?
  • How can we apply this understanding to social work, and what lessons can we take forward and implement in our practice?
