After working with children and young people in supportive and management roles within the voluntary sector, Gemma qualified as a social worker in 2008. She progressed to senior social worker and practice educator in 2015. She has practised in various statutory children’s social work teams in Leeds and Cheshire. This includes specialist teams for children with complex needs, residential management, fostering and adoption, safeguarding and quality assurance.
More recently, Gemma was instrumental in transforming the ASYE programme in Warrington by developing and delivering a practice learning framework underpinned by reflective supervision and group learning. She has written and delivered training to foster carers, social workers and family support workers. She is committed to the learning and development of herself and others. Gemma’s experience as a practice educator was her main motivation for joining Frontline as a practice tutor. She believes that our most vulnerable members of society deserve nothing less than excellent social workers.
