Vanessa Catterall

Vanessa is head of region for the South West. Vanessa qualified as a Social Worker in 2005 and worked for Bristol City Council Children’s Services until she moved to Frontline to set up the South West region in 2019. Vanessa worked across safeguarding and children in care services in Bristol and has a passionate belief in the power and value of great social work as a force for good. Vanessa enjoys learning and teaching and has worked as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University since 2010. Vanessa is currently completing a Senior Leaders Masters Degree Apprenticeship at the University of the West of England.

Vanessa is a parent of two young boys and a supported lodgings provider for her local authority, offering housing to homeless young people and care leavers. Seeing services from the point of view of a provider has given Vanessa a different perspective on the complexities faced by today’s teenagers as well as insight into the challenges experienced by carers.
