My social worker, Sophie

A poem written to Sophie, an Approach Social Work participant (formerly known as the Frontline programme), from a child who is in care.

Sophie, an Approach Social Work participant (formerly known as the Frontline programme), has been supporting a child, who is in care of a local authority. After a few months of being supported by Sophie, she wrote Sophie a poem to express her gratitude and the impact Sophie has had in her life. Through Sophie’s dedication, we see first-hand how social work can and does make a difference in the lives of children.

My Social Worker, Sophie.

Social workers, they’re the heroes we need,

Helping others in their time of need.

With compassion and empathy, they lend a hand,

Supporting individuals and communities across the land.

They advocate for justice, equality, and care,

Making a difference, showing they truly care.

From child welfare to mental health,

Social workers bring hope and help.

They listen, they guide, they provide support,

Working tirelessly, their efforts never fall short.

Addressing challenges, finding solutions anew,

Social workers, we appreciate all that you do!

As we reflect on Sophie’s journey, let us acknowledge and celebrate the many social workers like Sophie who selflessly dedicate themselves to making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people. Through empathy, advocacy and unwavering support, social workers can be the difference.
