Driving service improvement

We partner with organisations to turn ambitions into practical, sustainable change. Our approach focuses on rapid, evidence-informed capability building. We help teams redesign how services operate, test new ways of working through small pilots, and embed improved practice through focused training, supervisor support and implementation coaching.

Change management

Large-scale change succeeds only when people are supported to adopt new roles and ways of working. Topics which can be applied to your custom service improvement pathway include:

  • Change management fundamentals — understand the stages of organisational change, common enablers and barriers, and practical tactics to move from decision to delivery.
  • Leading change inclusively — set a clear, inclusive vision, model the behaviours needed and use co-production checks so leaders maintain trust and engagement through transition.
  • Co-producing change with staff and young people — a hands-on co-design session to surface lived experience, test ideas with front-line staff and young people, and agree practical pilots people will own.

Family Help — practical training & support

Family Help asks councils to provide consistent, family-centred support across the service model, including clear role descriptions for family help lead practitioners, multi-disciplinary family help teams and routine use of family-led planning. Frontline recognises the scale and urgency of these reforms and offers targeted, practical training that helps services implement change safely, build local capability and secure workforce engagement. We are continuing to develop this offer to respond to emerging demands under Family Help.

Select from the sessions below to build a tailored programme that meets your local needs:

  • Family help lead practitioner training — clarify the purpose of this role, strengthen whole-family assessment practice and implement single assessments and plans that adapt as needs change.
  • Assessment skills (for non-social-work practitioners) — practical decision tools, recording templates and escalation checks so staff understand thresholds and know when a qualified social worker should lead.
  • Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) — training on FGDM principles, practical enablers and common challenges, including family preparation, safety considerations and how to integrate FGDM into local service models.
  • Effective multi-agency working & team development practical workshops to establish and strengthen multi-agency teams, clarify roles and responsibilities, and agree joint-working arrangements.

Since the training, I have seen a huge change in the way my direct report’s confidence has grown, which has had a direct impact on outcomes they managed to achieve.”
