Remembering Sue Williams

We were very sad to hear of the passing of Sue Williams earlier this month. Sue dedicated her life to social work and to doing the absolute best for children and families.
She forged a career that spanned four London boroughs and three more local authorities; including both the Local Government Association and Ofsted. She developed a widely used practice framework titled ‘the family safeguarding model’ that she helped to implement across a number of local authorities in England. In 2024, we had the pleasure to award her with the Frontline Award for Outstanding Contribution to Children and Families.
Throughout all this she became a leading light in bringing change and innovation to children’s social work. Her commitment to the sector made a huge and lasting contribution not just to every team she worked with but to every child and family they have supported. We send our thoughts and condolences to Sue’s family and friends at this difficult time.
