Young People Advisory Board
Frontline’s mission is to make life better for children at risk of harm by improving the services that support them. The board ensures that we stay true to that mission — keeping children’s experiences, voices and perspectives at the heart of everything we do.
Members share their experiences and insights to help shape decision-making at all levels of the charity. They contribute to projects across Frontline and beyond — from advising on social worker training and taking part in focus groups, to delivering workshops and speaking on panels for Frontline and other like-minded organisations.
We know that by growing our direct work with young people with lived experience, and providing a platform for them to raise their voices and be heard, their experiences can shape decision-making and raise the positive profile of social work in the process.
Board activity
The Young People Advisory Board plays an active role across many areas of our work — from shaping internal strategy and influencing programme design, to contributing to recruitment, external relations and staff development. Their insight and impact are already significant.
What have members done?
Through their involvement, board members are helping to make sure young people’s voices shape real change across the social work sector
Current board members
The Young People Advisory Board is made up of ten members aged 18 to 25.
All are care-experienced, and while each of their journeys through care is unique, they share one common goal: to use their experiences to create positive change for children and young people in England.
Working with the board
There are many ways for external partners to support the Young People Advisory Board. This includes:
- facilitating learning and development sessions for board members
- providing opportunities to take part in external projects or events
- sharing work opportunities
- helping the board amplify their voices and insights beyond Frontline
External partners can also refer care-experienced young people they know who might be interested in joining the board.
