Want to have your voice heard and shape change? We’d love to hear from you.
As experts by experience, members of the Young People Advisory Board play a real role in shaping the future of children’s social work in England. By sharing your insights and experiences, you help influence how Frontline works, how professionals are trained to support children at risk of harm, and how positive change happens across the wider sector.
What it’s like on board
The board meets regularly throughout the year. Meetings are a space to:
explore issues in the sector
share insights and feedback on Frontline’s work
learn from each other
Terms last two years, and members may serve more than one term. After this, we encourage members to stay connected and continue to contribute through our wider work with young people.
The role is voluntary, but Frontline covers necessary expenses such as travel, food and accommodation. Across the year, there are additional opportunities to contribute to projects — some of which may be paid.
Other board member benefits
one-to-one mentoring and development support
learning sessions to build key skills such as public speaking and facilitation
opportunities to attend events and network with partners
Many members also work as care-experienced assessors from October to May, interviewing applicants for Frontline’s Approach Social Work programme alongside experienced social workers.
Applicants should:
live in England (we are particularly keen to broaden our reach beyond London)
be care-experienced
want to use their lived experience to influence change and improve children’s lives
We welcome applications from care-experienced young people aged 18–25 who want to use their experiences to help shape a better future for children and young people.
We particularly welcome applications from young people from racialised minority groups, those who identify as LGBTQIA+, and young people with a disability.
