Why Matt took on the London Marathon for Frontline
This year, Matt was one of four amazing people representing Frontline at the TCS London Marathon. He crossed the finish line with a memory he says “will last a lifetime.”
Matt took on the challenge not only because of a personal fitness goal, but also because of something closer to home: the impact Frontline’s training has had on his family’s life.
His partner made the transition into children’s social work in 2017, when she joined the Frontline programme (now Approach Social Work).
“The support she received didn’t just change her professional direction – it changed our family’s life,” he says. “I’ve seen firsthand the dedication and care she brings to children and families every day and that journey began with Frontline.
“I’m incredibly proud of the difference she is making and grateful for the role Frontline played in making that possible. Their work doesn’t just impact individuals – it strengthens families and communities. Ours included.”
Matt turned that personal connection into incredible action. Besides completing the marathon and earning his finisher’s medal, he is proud to have raised over £2,600 for Frontline – an incredible contribution that will help the charity continue to support professionals like his partner to strengthen communities. “I didn’t just want to run a marathon – I wanted to make it count. Every mile I ran and every pound raised contributes to something meaningful,” he says. “That kept me going on the tougher training days.”
