FAQs
How does the challenge work?
You can cover 700,000 steps from 1 July to 31 August however you like – whether you walk, run, jog or skip.
Who can take part?
Anyone can take part in the challenge and do it in a way that works for them. However, we ask that anyone under 18 takes part with a parent or guardian who registers on their behalf.
How do I track my steps?
You can use fitness devices like Fitbit, Apple Watch and Garmin or free apps like Runkeeper and MapMyWalk. Alternatively, your phone will have plenty of free pedometer apps you can use to track your steps. We’ll also provide a handy printable step tracker which you can use to help keep track of your progress.
What are the different ways I can do my steps?
This step challenge works out about 11,290 steps daily for three months and you can also do longer walks at the weekends. You can do more some days if you want so you can add in rest days.
You can do your steps in any way you would like, anywhere you would like. So this could be walking, jogging, running, dancing, gym machines (treadmill) and playing football or other sports. You can also include your steps when you’re at home walking around your home and going up & down the stairs. If you’re out and doing some shopping that can count too!
Can I fundraise offline?
Yes! You can collect offline donations such as cash and cheques. When you’re ready to pay in your offline fundraising, contact us on fundraising@thefrontline.org.uk or use our form. Remember to mention ‘step challenge’ in the ‘Which event did you do’ box.

- post updates about your progress
How do Rewards work?
You’ll receive a Frontline t-shirt when you raise £35. a Frontline cap when you raise £100, a Frontline cap when you raise £350 and a medal if you complete the challenge – there’s so many great rewards to win!
Rewards are sent automatically when you reach fundraising milestones from June 2026, and you can opt in or out at any time by letting the team know.
Rewards are sent every two weeks. If yours hasn’t arrived after three weeks, email our fundraising team.
We only send out reward items to addresses within the UK.
Can I take part as a team?
Yes, once everyone has signed up individually, the team captain can visit their fundraising page to create a team. To get started, choose a team name and set a fundraising target. You can also write a personalised story for your shared page. When others sign up, they can join your team by typing in the same team name. This will then link everyone’s pages to a shared team page.
Do you have resources to support my challenge?
Yes, you’ll find downloadable resources on our Rewards and Resources page.
